Working Well in November #3

Hello my viewers,

For many years I wrote a Workplace Wellness column for a monthly magazine here in South Florida. Each month I put forth some healthy and helpful ideas for companies to consider as a tool to help keep their employees happy and healthy. Thus by reducing sick days, they increased their business output. Sometimes the messages related specifically to a certain month because of holidays and other times, they were simply generic. But in either case, the fundamental message had the purpose of bringing forth new ideas into the corporate world aimed at a positive change in the wellbeing of their workers.

So please enjoy these tips and pass them on to others at your workplace or anywhere else you choose.

GIVE THANKS BY RECEIVING

Yea, it's turkey, dressing and gravy month, and don't forget the cranberry-orange relish, real mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes covered in melted marshmallows! Later on it's pumpkin pie with whipped cream, apple pie with cheddar cheese, and mincemeat pie for the brave!

Thanksgiving is also about giving thanks, but..... for what and to whom?

In today's crazy world, especially since 9-11-01 and on-going hurricanes, many people are giving thanks for the bare-bones-basics of having any form of a job and any roof over their heads, in light of so many now that have neither. From small businesses to big corporations, the rules of how we use to do business shifted and had to be re-invented in order to survive and grow in this new millennium. Customers they once had and could count on, disappeared, and potential new customers are being courted by many. Chaos is often the result, which fills them with anxiety, uncertainty and a true lack of security.

For some folks, bitterness, regrets, anger, depression and pure fear keep them from recognizing and counting up their daily blessings, and thus keep them from giving thanks to the Great Provider of their understanding. For others however, a continued bright energy, broad smile and optimistic attitude seem to light their path and show the way for many others who are drawn to them, experiencing them as a source or conduit for Light. What is it that makes the difference?

It's simple. Ask and receive for self-alone, and your longevity of plenty will be fleeting. Ask and receive for the sake of sharing, and your sustenance will remain strong and steady as obstacles turn into opportunities. Asking and receiving from this platform of desire supports a strong foundation of providing for yourself, which then acts as a conduit for helping and sharing with others, which in turn creates an obvious and on-going reason to give thanks. It works for an individual... it works for an organization... it works for any company of any size.

Businesses who know and understand this creative principle of receiving for the sake of sharing and then giving thanks, will shine for their employees and their customers for many years to come and light the way to bring balance and harmony to the world economy.
